@Tommy It's worth stating that with Searx you're combining results from a configurable selection search engines, it doesn't perform the search itself.

I'm not sure if a personal Searx instance is all that more private...

Interestingly Amazon did design a standard early on to aid this but, due seamingly to how corporate the field of websearch is, it never really took off outside of a handful of projects.

Your explaination is very good and I do believe that is something to be aware of.

But still, I wouldn't say information would be sent to the provider of the search results as Searx is a Metadata search engine and it will only "copy" the results of other search engines.

That is only of my knowledge and I could be wrong.
