@techlore No, it isn't possible. Stop deceiving your new-to-privacy fanbase into believing your pattern of falsities. It's detrimental to the community and the spread of privacy itself.

@Obscurequokka Never seen the musical and I'm not into politics, this is just my opinion. It's almost impossible to have hard stances on every issue and can really just make it impossible for your political views to ever morph and adapt with you as you change as a person. I think it's significantly better to know what you agree and disagree with but also be open to the other side of the argument, and be able to acknowledge the validity in their opinion as well.

@Stuxhost Do you still have to put in all of your information to get a domain, or does StuxHost take a Njalla-like approach to domain registration?

@Obscurequokka Imgbb (i think that's the name) is the best of the worst. Truly if you want full privacy though host onionshare on your own. Any image host needs to have your photos so the only way you can be sure they aren't being misused is to host them yourself

@kravietz It didn't used to have end-to-end encryptio n, is it still that way or have they added it?

@gritnot I haven't personally used it because none of the payment methods work for me, but I've heard really good things about it. A lot of people use it and actively promote it, so I'd give it a shot.

Why do people even use F-Droid clients? Like what's the issue with the normal client? You're sacrificing trust and confidence in your builds for what I can only assume is done solely for a menial aesthetic increase.

@redcoqui Private tabs do nothing other than store less data on your device by default. They can also still track your IP, UUID, OS, browser version, OS version, etc if you use the websites normally. No accounts also hardly does anything, it just removes one step, almost all of them link behavior now, how long you click, how long you stop on something, etc.

@soudk @redcoqui And you have MicroG enabled and have installed the GCam services (not GCam) apk?

@soudk Every OS for the Pixel 2 will be effectively deprecated at this point. Its just the reality of Android I'm afraid, no five year OS updates like on iOS. That means the camera is unlikely to improve. That said, since its Calyx, and Calyx is insecure with the only benefit being app compatibility, you CAN leverage that compatibility and make GCam work with a special apk. I know many people who've done it and know that it should still be possible. Only downside is, yknow, Google.

@soudk I didn't get any Captchas when I signed up over Tor today, that's so strange. Captchas are terrible, especially ReCaptchas( yes, they are harder than hCaptchas, I can explain why if you'd like ).

Just made a Lemmy account today! Link in bio! Looks pretty great so far.

They engage in illegal cybercrimes.

They raised $550,000 to "stay independent" but then immediately after the funding campaign ended they sold to a U.S. capital firm.

If you don't mind any of this, then use their service. If you do, I'd suggest you look elsewhere (like Tutanota).

clearnet site.

Its next to impossible to make an account over Tor, as they make you supply another email, your phone number (destroying any anonymity), or even forcing you to donate them money (also destroying anonymity).

They can't provide the zero-access or full un-tamperable e2ee that they claim. Its functionally impossible on the email protocol.

They're partially owned and closely tied with the Swiss government.

They were developed with NSA and CIA oversight.

@soudk Its actually really easy. If you don't want the fastest, I'd recommend using the Snap package. TLG has a decent tutorial regarding the Snap version if I recall correctly.

Here's a list of reasons why I think ProtonMail is shady and will never trust them:

The developers of ProtonMail, don't even use ProtonMail, they use almost exclusively GMail or Outlook.

They don't let you register over their .onion. If you go to their .onion and then click register, it redirects you to their

The drop shadows on the Lemmur F-Droid app are so over the top, it's really distracting.

That's an impossible question to answer, difference FOSS apps are different, but installing one shouldn't break another.

Absolutely not. Always use front-ends. If you're going to Reddit, replace reddit.com with teddit.net -- if you're going to Instagram, use bibliogram.art -- if you're going to Twitter, use nitter.net -- and all of these websites have alternative instances, some may unblock or block certain things, some may be faster, etc.

If you have any more questions, let me know!
