@gritnot No, it's not a setting within the keyboard, its a setting in certain apps that allows you to query the Apple keyboard to use an "incognito mode", or essentially just a mode that doesn't track and send back everything you type.
@gritnot I'm aware that this question is meant to be directed towards Wetrix, that said, you shouldn't really use any third party keyboards. You're already "trusting" Apple with all of your data, including your keyboard typing information even if you use a third party app, so all it does is unnecessarily place extra trust in a third party. Best case, just use the stock Apple keyboard and enable apps to request "Incognito Keyboard" whenever possible, which just asks it not to collect anything.
@ferds I mean its WhatsApp...They're owned by Facebook...
Like does this really surprise anyone? I think if you were using WhatsApp for privacy then you've got to seriously rethink your setup.
Excited for the product, just one question. Why should people trust you? Like 1984hosting, run by political and privacy activists. Njalla, run by the people behind the Pirate bay and myriad VPN, messaging, and hosting ventures. This goes for other popular "trustworthy" hosting, so what puts you apart from the rest and makes you someone worth trusting with sometimes fairly sensitive user information?
@iesushartz At the same time though, isn't that what they would want people to think? You're going to trust Apple's privacy label about their own product in contrast to their direct competition? I don't know, I certainly wouldn't put any stock in it.
@Obscurequokka You're totally right. I'm used to dealing with people who don't really understand platforms and their control and privacy implications, so I just kind of went into correction mode. You're right and I apologize.
@Obscurequokka Yeah I guess so, I think it more depends on your definition. There are content duration algorithms, user algorithms, group algorithms, etc. I was looking in a more broad sense but you're absolutely right, you can configure most of them to have much less strongest content creation and recommendation settings.
@Obscurequokka Reddit and Twitter are not anonymous and are nowhere near algorithm free.
Personally, I think that its a pattern of algorithms that facilitate human nature.
@thenewoil I mean I think if you're someone who uses Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp under any assumption of privacy you've got to seriously rethink your setup.
@cpsdqs I love him - I would so buy this.
@fatboy While this doesn't account for self-control on the part of the person, etc, decent analogy nonetheless.
@gritnot This is because for the app to effectively function as an ad, tracker, etc blocker, a "VPN" is the best way to do that. When they use the VPN slot it makes the device route all available traffic through the tunnel, therefore allowing lockdown to function to its fullest.
@gerowen It's an awesome console!
@z428 Never had a Samsung device so I can't comment on the similarities but Lineage's stock gallery or Simple Gallery are both good.
@Avneor Tor and over their .onion. That said, there's really nothing good or special about Facebook in any way and I would strongly recommend not using it at all if possible.
@serf Ah that's really helpful, thank you!
@serf Yes actually! Ungoogled Chromium is one of my main browsers and one that I use every day. I use it on Fedora and love it, but I was just using Brave temporarily due to WideVine. I was unaware that WudeVine could be added, would you be willing to steer me in the right direction on how to go about doing that?
@Wetrix I need WideVine which isn't in UGC or I wouldn't use it - Brave's out of the box privacy is nothing to scoff at when compared to the mainstream competition, especially when you take into account the immensely hardened security of Chromium (of which Brave is based upon) in comparison to Firefox, but something about their incessant analytics and other anti-privacy features that are on by default still bothers me.
uhh... not good at bios... I'm a privacy and security advocate and motion designer from earth (i think.)
