@librebuddys I'm a huge privacy and security advocate but saying that proprietary software is often malware and doesn't respect freedoms is extremely harsh and just false in many cases. Take W10Privacy for example, among the best Windows 10 privacy enhancing tools available, second only to AME, and its fully closed source.

@blueberry Either. Despite some of the shortcomings of Chromium, it is innumerably more secure than Firefox. Ungoogled Chromium is the best for desktop, hardened Safari for iOS, and ideally Vanadium or if you arent on Graphene then Bromite for Android.

@blueberry Truthfully if you're interested in privacy or especially security you shouldn't be using Firefox.

It's good that TikTok is probably getting banned because of all of the privacy invasion but I can't help but feel kind of bad for all of the people who have made a legit living off of it, they're just going to lose all of that. I don't know, just mixed feelings.

Damn, NetGuard still isn't supported on Grapheme 11? Like using the network permission is fine and all but its not as effective and granular as NetGuard.

OS Privacy and security breakdown.
Chromebooks; Extreme security, abysmal privacy.
Linux; Lower than average security, great privacy.
MacOS; Great security, poor privacy.
Windows; Average security, awful privacy.
BSD; Great security, amazing privacy but zero browser sandboxing for Chromium and Firefox.
Haiku; but why

@eric That's fine and all but A; my ISP is very strange with traffic like that and B: doing it at home would not help with the financial situation which is my main concern due to me still needing to buy a machine to host it off of, especially one that is powerful enough.

Notifications on Android 11

@Ted For the network monitor or any persistent notifications, and change in that notification, let's say Orbot when it changes the download and upload traffic numbers in the persistent notification, every alteration in the notification counts as a new notification. No idea about the others though.

@Wetrix I have a pair of Sony WH1000XM3's because I got them on a crazy discount and their sound quality is nice but what is really amazing about them is the noise cancelling. I was in a really crowded store that had an insane amount of noise once, turned the headphones on, all of it just disappeared. I'd imagine the new XM4's sound even better but honestly I can't recommend them enough if you can find a price that works for you.

I really want to make a mastodon and/or matrix home server, it would be fast due to the inevitably smaller scale and the hosting it would be on, I wouldn't collect any information unless its absolutely necessary, it'd be secure, etc. I really want to give back to the community for all that they've done to help me in the past, but hosting can get expensive fast I'm really worried I wouldn't be able to financially keep the project afloat.

@Wetrix Due to the physical lack of capable hardware to achieve that I'm certainly sceptical. Do you happen to have the link for the app?

@Wetrix Apps cant do that, phones don't have heart rate sensors. I think whatever app you think is doing that is lying to you.

@nar The best example I can think of is this; You know how Firefox has inbuilt tracking protection and when you et it to strict it blocks a bunch of shit on websites? That's a gross oversimplification but you get my point. Apple added that to Safari and now people are acting like they're the second coming of Christ for doing so. Its fucking obnoxious.

@Wetrix I would use my phone but A; phones aren't that accurate when it comes to step tracking and B; they can't measure your heart rate. Other than those issues, tracking steps with your phone is fine
