@lefarfadet @codewiz @tchx84 /e/ is lowkey shady as hell. I'd recommend going with a more trusted alternative if you have the chance.
@darylsun It's in Fennec last time I checked, don't see any reason to not use Fennec if you're locked into Firefox on mobile anyway.
@TeddyTheBest 9/10 people concerned with privacy, Windows to holds over 90% of PC and laptop market share, Facebook, twitter, and Instagram are the three largest social media platforms. Not sure who they were polling because I see way more than 10% of people have absolutely zero regard for their privacy.
@ilumium Yes, but you can easily protect yourself from general things by using Windows Defender or hardening your browser. It's much more difficult to diagnose and resolve the problem if one of the things you have blocked was linked to updates, windows defender, or the inherent security model of the system. Windows telemetry bypasses host file blocking anyway, but nothing else on the system does consistently. Just use W10Privacy, its more effective and tells you what breaks what.
@DragonLich @nixchick@fosstodon.org If you have fully hardened Firefox (hardened all settings, about:config, user.js, plugins, etc.), then you'll be downgrading by using a fork. That said, if you just want something to offer good privacy protections out of the box with minimal tweaking, I'd say IceCat or LibreWolf (maybe, still haven't looking too much into them so it's important to do your own research) are by far your best bet.
@hund @nixchick@fosstodon.org Still alive and well as far as I can see.
@AgreeableLandscape Here's the breakdown of the best distribution for different tasks in my opinion. Gaming; Fedora. Ultra Privacy; QubesOS. Privacy&Convenience; Debian. Total Ease Of Use; Ubuntu. For the tinkerer; Arch Linux.
@ilumium I'd imagine if you don't know what you're doing it could be a security risk.
@ewm Been using searX for a while now and have been pretty happy with it, not quite as accurate as DDG or StartPage but usable for my use. I'd recommend everyone at least give it a shot.
@sirduck@mastodon.social Can't recommend Graphene enough, switched from my iPhone (it was an impulse decision on launch day, I'm aware of how stupid it was) and have had absolutely no regrets. Daniel and all of the other contributors and maintainers have done an absolutely outstanding job and the community and Daniel (sometimes he's a bit short, but neither here nor there) will generally be more than happy to help with any problems you may have.
@gerowen @signalapp@mastodon.social Smart lol - wish people I knew would switch to privacy respecting chat apps this easily, but they're all still stuck on Discord lol
@hartig What does it have that hardened Firefox doesn't? Or is it just meant for better out-of-the-box hardening?
@sir Got the game when 1.4.7 just came out iirc. I think 1.8.9 was the last good PvP version and I think the newest version is the best for casual exploration.
@sir For me I think its more the fact of accomplishment when you work for so many hours to gather materials for a project, and then to just see it turn out exactly how you wanted.
And maybe a bit of nostalgia.
@mmatt *Uses a privacy respecting social network, Mastodon*
*Posts an ad for an aggressively anti-privacy online games store*
Hmmm...something doesn't seem quite right here...

@JBL I'm on GrapheneOS, but Graphene is **not** a ROM.
uhh... not good at bios... I'm a privacy and security advocate and motion designer from earth (i think.)
