Its crazy to me how less toxic Mastodon is versus Twitter. Like I used twitter for four years and that community was filled with toxicity, death threats, and doxxing. You come to Mastodon and it's like people explaining the platform to newbies, supporting other users, teaching people basics of privacy and security, etc.
Its just weird how much the platform varies with the attitude of its users.
@ThreeBadgersInATrenchcoat Is it related to size of user base? Toxicity is out there and one day will be also here.
@majso I think while there is an element that is proportional to the number or active users, when Twitter was around this size, they were still much more toxic and political. I think the privacy/security/Foss community is just comprised of people who try to be more helpful to introduce people to those fields, though I could be wrong on the reasoning.
