It's been a long day π΄
Besides the insanity going on down in the states I've been capturing dinosaurs so I guess it's not all bad π¦π (minecraft)
I've been trying to find a secure file sharing protocol for winxp. Any suggestions? I usually just use resilio sync but can't until I get PC back π’
@Wetrix Windows XP? Good lord you have to update your PC - come to Linux! OnionShare is the best filesharing program but I don't know if it has a Windows XP version.
@Wetrix How much experience do you have with Linux? Distributions can be tricky to recommend to people as everyone is looking for different things, but if you've never used Linux before then I'd recommend you check out Fedora. It's got decent security when compared to other distros, has up to date packages, easy installer, fast, etc. Just take a bit of time to check it out and see if it fits what you're looking for, like I said, its hard to recommend things like this with no information haha.
@Wetrix @ThreeBadgersInATrenchcoat i use pop!_os though I've hearing good things about elementOS.
@ParmuTownley @ThreeBadgersInATrenchcoat I will look into this as well thx! I have looked experience with it. π₯π²π
@ParmuTownley @Wetrix I was going to recommend them but if Ubuntu and Mint don't install, I didn't think that derivatives would be great, and Pop!_OS is based on Ubuntu and elementaryOS is based on Mint. They'll likely have the same issues occurring during installation.
@Wetrix @ThreeBadgersInATrenchcoat fedora is most up to date and most stable one in my opinion cuz rhel. ubuntu/debian or distros based on them suck. artix is good, void is good. gentoo is good but i wouldnt recommend it.
@Wetrix @ThreeBadgersInATrenchcoat also wtf u doing using xp in 2021
@anon_les @ThreeBadgersInATrenchcoat I'm using it because my the other Linux distros I tried to install keep getting errors.
π
@anon_les I mean hospitals, y'know, the places that store people's very private and sensitive information, primarily use Vista and 7. I don't even know how Wetrix got a code for XP though lol.
@ThreeBadgersInATrenchcoat yea and hospitals are known to have slacking IT specialists and moronic security.
@ThreeBadgersInATrenchcoat U can even search "hospital hacked" or something like "hospital cybersecurity".... The only hospitals ive seen that have tespectable cybersecurity was in Switz.
@ThreeBadgersInATrenchcoat Many hospitals usually dont use e2ee or any kind of encryption.
@Wetrix @ThreeBadgersInATrenchcoat i personally dislike plain linux for the lack of security but i love linux for everything else...so i use....QUBES.
@anon_les @ThreeBadgersInATrenchcoat I really like Linux myself. Especially mint.
ππ
@Wetrix @ThreeBadgersInATrenchcoat mint sucks cuz its based on ubuntu. Try fedora
@anon_les @Wetrix Yeah Fedora is pretty great! The only reason I didn't recommend things like Arch or Gentoo is because it doesn't sound like they have a lot of experience with Linux, so I didn't want to recommend them something that could negatively influence their first experience with Linux. That said, if you have the experience then those are amazing picks.
@ThreeBadgersInATrenchcoat oh ok. Which one would you recommend? π
