I've got a question about the Fediverse and our 13 year-old son π€
After watching 'The Social Dilemma' with him today, we had a chat about Instagram, Twitter, etc.
He asked what I use and I told him more about Mastodon and federated servers (he knows some of this due to me PM'ing @moodlenet)
My question is whether, based in the UK, there are any instances he can join? Mastodon.social, for instance, says users have to be 16 years old because of GDPR...

Another update: we talked through setting up a Mastodon instance and what that would mean. Then we discussed his use case, and we both realised what he *needs* is a Discord he can talk/chat with his friends across PS4 and Xbox π
@dajbelshaw Element or anything else on the Matrix protocol might be more suitable. Keeps almost all of the perks of Discord but is end to end encrypted and just like mastodon allows you to host your own home server to ensure his data is safeguarded.
