@nar I thought you felt bad because nobody replied so I wanted to say at least something. Will not happen again

@krock @Lunas +1. It also somewhat depends on whether you're looking for a local solution or want to sync all your devices. Bitwarden has this baked in, keepass does not.

@nar Dude what did you expect? If nobody has anything meaningful to reply, why should they?

@Wetrix Sure but that's why I'm not on those. And why I'm on this instance.

@Wetrix After a cursory glance I spotted a lot of bullshit I don't want to expose myself to. So I don't think I'll invest in it. Also social media in general is not what I want to spend all my time with so mastodon has to suffice.

@gritnot I understand the concern. Building yourself is not an option I take it?

@krock This seems somewhat paranoid and like it would take up much time to me. I hardly think you'll be confusing anything but some bulk data collection algorithm, no?

@gritnot What are your fears then? If you think flatpak might be a bad idea then I suggest researching about it. Also, isn't there a COPR for signal desktop?

@ThreeBadgersInATrenchcoat I think this "free speech" issue people discuss is somewhat weird. It was never desirable to allow people to say whatever they want, no matter what it is and AFAIK no country even tries to.
Also free speech on privately-owned platforms is quite another cup of tea, no?

@cjleads @ThreeBadgersInATrenchcoat Also according to, e.g., Daniel Micah (GrapheneOS Dev) Linux phones are way less secure than android and iOS phones for various reasons other than that. I recommend you research that more if you're interested.

@cjleads @ThreeBadgersInATrenchcoat I'm far from an expert myself but to circumvent location tracking getting rid of Google is probably a good idea. AFAIK it's somewhat more complicated than what you described though.

@ThreeBadgersInATrenchcoat I'm sorry but this makes little sense. This is no objectively true of false "fact" but very much a matter of preference and need. Depending on what you want to do and what you prefer your "best" OS may vary. Sure Linux has issues but for quite a few people it is the best OS because only it offers what they need/want.
