If a decentralized network cannot live with some group of people because of their views, then this network is not socially scalable and it is just a temporary toy for geeks.

Do you mean in the sense that you could join a server that has malicious intent?
@Skepticalme @judgedread users should block other users directly I mean, for sure. The issue is when instance admins block other instances (mostly arbitrarily) it fragments the fediverse. Instance blocks are generally helpful to 1) block spam, and 2) maybe to block NSFW content if your instance is targeted towards kids? It’s less helpful when it’s used to silence opinions you don’t like.
@Skepticalme @judgedread I think it’s meant more in the sense that some server admins are blocking other servers entirely because some of the users on the other servers don’t have the same views (political mostly) as the admins. It’s kind of a ridiculous thing because the entire idea behind federation allows anybody to connect to one another (i.e if someone is blocked they could trivially create a new server to get around it) so instance-wide server blocks seem generally harmful.
