@joshbdoc I agree with you in an ideal world. :)
But these objects are useful and provide value to people.
The trick is to balance privacy and convenience, else most average folks will always default to convenience.

@isagalaev
Fair point.
When I use "100%" I mean the convenience of sitting in the passenger's seat while the car drives itself- reading, watching a movie, working, etc.
Do you think the tech is close to that vision?

If you like the benefits that smart speakers provide but don't want to be tracked and tagged 24X7.

@autumn
Those are fair points.
Congestion and a clean environment are two major issues that any driving tech should strive to solve.
I've heard utopian rumours of a self driving, optimized, on-demand fleet of cars, running 100% on renewable tech. But after seeing over a dozen cycles of tech hype, I have become wary of them, if not downright jaded.

While their intentions are a bit more pernicious, I don't envy them here.

Just had to unfollow someone.
Not coz of their political views, but because their feed was nothing but politics.
It's exhausting yo!

Some of the new folks I've followed are... interesting.
Like full on conspiracy theory nuts.
But I'd much rather follow them rather be stuck in my own ideological echo chamber.
If anything it makes me question, modify and sometimes even strengthen my own beliefs.

My best discovery so far was looking into a sample from my shower drain and finding tiny bugs crawling in it ๐Ÿ›๐Ÿฅด
Needless to say I cleaned it next morning lol

Facebook has recently launched a campaign touting itself as the protector of small businesses, and targeted advertising as the best method to reach customers. But they aren't telling you the whole story.
