STOP USING MP3 THERE IS NO REASON ANYONE SHOULD USE MP3
@MrRawes
Right but it is very appropriate for audio books. A 500 page book lossless would be a beast.
I use some of the worst TTS engines for my epubs because google is off limits.
@krock @MrRawes If you're looking for small files, WMA or AAC are your best bets. MP3 is the worst of both worlds, having poor quality and at best *okay* file sizes. Vorbis at least sounds a bit better while keeping the size down. WMA and AAC sound significantly better with tiny file sizes and wide -- although maybe not quite as strong as mp3 -- player compatibility.
@ThreeBadgersInATrenchcoat @MrRawes Thank you for educating me. The challenge is sometimes formats supported by different converters and players. I recently stripped the DRM off of a bunch of Audible books and did not find great converters on Linux.
@krock it larger file size then aac and opus with the same quality, it has been around since 1993
@krock the last update two it that is standard was in 1998
@MrRawes I mean opus is ideal, but not everyone can use that.
@MrRawes size
Although all I use is FLAC some people want more room so thus smaller files via mp3
@MrRawes Tell us the evils please. Ogg Vorbis is great too.
