@glitcher32 refreshing should help
federation is kinda working but only outbound. i think it's because there's still a lot being served over ssl.

we run our own fork of mastodon that is still in beta and could use a little outside help https://github.com/MasTorDonOnion/mastordon/
YES!!! IT WORKS!!!! email is confirmed every second so the email feild can be used as a second password if you don't want to use an email address.
There is no way to recover your account if you loose your password though.
The email uses a Gmail though i would like to use SMTP over tor in the future. Now time to bring up the old one.
The problem seems to be permission related maybe. It only seems to work if stopped by systemctl and started with sudo tor.
Nothing is lost as i still have access to the old server so if i messed up the migration i can get the data back.
It probably won't be done today but here is the fork that is under development.
https://github.com/mastordononion/mastordon feel free to leave suggestions / tips in the issues.
It's still under development so info may not be correct.
@jonah i did not see the second one good find. Maybe next week I'll fork it but I'll be busy for two weeks after next week so i didn't wanna start it yet but it shouldn't take that long with that out of the way.
@opal I don't think it's a bug as I've read images are always served from the main domain
Where i got stuck last time was trying to make email confirmations automatic because I'd like email to be optional as things like password resets require email. I'd also like to make the email feild optional as well as id like to use a hidden service smtp server.
By forking this time around it allows for anyone to be able to run it as well as being able to collaborate with others to accomplish what i cannot do myself.
I look forward to working with anyone on this little project in the future.
Probably mid September I'll begin working on a fork of mastodon to remove ssl for hidden service Instences and provide documentation on how to set them up.
I will also alter the logo slightly as it's copyrighted.
federation over tor would be a great win for privacy and anonymity it's a shame tor isn't more mainstream.
@opal i tried removing the requirement for ssl but the verification emails are sent with a https link. I'm not really a coder but i thought it would be cool to have a mas tor don that can't be shut down by any governments and its users are anonymous.
@jonah when the account gets approved the welcome aboard email gets sent. So maybe less interested but not forgotten.
@jonah Human readability. I will probably have a v3 alt domain at some point soon
@jonah what about manually confirming accounts?
@jonah It seems standalone as federation requires ssl. But in theory they could but everyone would have to run a dedicated fork that completely strips ssl or accept each other's self-assigned certs or the very unlikely scenario everyone pays for digicert certs.
