Yesterday was day 2 of the Sinquefield cup where all 12 #chess grandmasters drew their games. Letās see if former world champion Anand can extend his slim lead.

@greyor you have a fantastic day too!
@arvid that sounds useful. Are you willing to share the code?

Coming up with a strong password doesn't have to be hard. Use dice to make a password that is easy for you to remember but hard for computers to guess. https://www.eff.org/dice
@a1batross @greyor thatās a good joke! I had never heard that before. Although from experience C++ returns something a lot more complicated than the old value.
@greyor I hadnāt heard of POV-Ray before. Raytracing sounds like a cool thing to dig into though. Iāve never really learned emacs (focused on vim instead) but Iāve always been impressed when looking over the shoulders of emacs gurus.
Both python and java are pretty hard to optimize for runtime performance. Sometime I think about whether developing in C is worth it since the gains you get in runtime might be offset by the time you spent debugging your program.

@em you might consider changing your avatar in that case š
Former world #chess champion Anand was the only winner in the first round of the Sinquefield cup. Tomorrow the second round will start at the same time.

@greyor yeah I agree that pointers are difficult. Thatās why I prefer languages like Java or Python that kind of abstract away from that concept. Recently Iāve tried to learn some Rust, but still need some time to understand its ownership model. Hope you enjoy using C. Iāve found it both the worst and the best language that Iāve ever masteredš.
@greyor cool are you learning #C as your first #programming language? Linked lists are definitely a useful and interesting concept!
@arvid itās the system that github used to generate all of their static webpages. I pretty much use it to automatically generate the headers and footers for my pages. What does your python script do?
More #chess: the first round of the Sinquefield cup starts today at 13:00 CDT (GMT -5). 12 of the strongest chess players in the world will play a round robin tournament.

@arvid does your python script do more than what Jekyll does? Just asking because thatās what I use for my website.
@michel_slm thanks. I like the DuckDuckGo logo in your name āŗļø
#introductions My main interests are #chess and #privacy. I will toot about the #chess events that I follow.
From my short time on this instance, Iāve already met loads of great people to interact with about #privacy. Hope to get to know many more of you!
@greyor very well put. I couldnāt agree more āŗļø
Levon Aronian has won the St Louis Rapid & Blitz! World champion Magnus Carlsen still leads the Grand #Chess Tour standings, even with his mediocre performance in this event.
I look forward to the Sinquefield cup. The first round will start this Saturday (17 August). Find more info here: https://grandchesstour.org/2019-grand-chess-tour/2019-sinquefield-cup
