Thanks to @blacklight447 for the pro-tip, saving me the trouble of learning the hard way, that you cannot edit posts/comments on Mastodon. As good as I am at typing, writing and getting my thoughts 'right on the first try', I will not tolerate this. Nor should anyone else. Feels too much like Instagram (a platform I hope dies a painful death)!

@JoshuaJosephson @blacklight447 Thankfully there is a 'Block' function to ignore people who simply signup to a service to complain about it. I am sure the Mastodon project would appreciate contributions to code or any other efforts to fill in missing features that other people perhaps would appreciate as well. Did you check for any existing Issues or feature requests on this subject? Mastodon certainly is not in it's final form at this moment.

@JoshuaJosephson FYI there is a "Delete and re-draft" option so if you catch something quickly you can delete the post and the content will be added back in to the editor. But that does unlink any replies, boosts, or follows, so only super helpful if you notice a mistake right away.
