Important web page, if you are installing #Linux on a notebook and features for power management are not recognised by the BIOS or UEFI at system startup.
It's a workaround that allows the kernel to describe itself as a Windows version in order to enable core ACPI functions that are otherwise disabled and often cause problems for suspend, resume, and embedded Wifi, Bluetooth, and other devices.

Secret services in Germany will soon be allowed to hack devices and observe people with the #Staatstrojaner (Trojan horse used by the government).
It is suspected that it was also sold illegally to secret services of other countries such as Turkey or Syria to spy on the opposition there.
The SPD, German Labour Party, had hesitated for a long time, then they caved in and passed the bill together with the Conservatives (CDU).
This is the German sound of #surveillance.

We just wrapped up the first episode of #GamesForEveryone, and our little bot recorded local FLAC audio for each host, then wrapped it all up into an Audacity project file.

@kravietz it’s going to need more than a carbon tax at this point: there’s no problem with the left if you’re talking about going beyond Marx, Class and Economics and markets - they’re limited and insufficient: libertarian municipalism as proposed by Bookchin is worth reading about as this seems like a solid alternative.

Holy crap, google is apparently taking down all/most fediverse apps from google play on the grounds that that some servers in the fediverse engage in hate speech. At least three apps I know of anyway and I'd imagine the others will follow soon under the exact same reasoning.} Seems to be the case with Husky, Fedilab, and "subway" tooter.
this is a scary precedent if google play is going to ban any apps that can in any way be used to access content with hate speech. So what about a forum client, do they take that down just because there is a forum somewhere on the internet posting hate speech?
This is particularly worrisome because for most people Google Play is the only way they understand to install apps at all.
